Well, it is only a few hours until this blogger/writer takes a well deserved break from his fraying imagination to visit Spain and Morocco.  My gear is packed and I’m ready to go.  Unfortunately, I also packed my portable hard drive and with it all my photos.  So, no photo today.  But, something else perhaps?

Breakout

September 23, 2010

The milky white glare of a heavy fog descended over the parklands, unable or unwilling to lift.  Like neunundneunzig luftballons the birds took to the air, in search of respite.  Or breakfast.  But, it was useless.  Nature had pulled her veil in tightly.  For now, they would stay within her protective shroud, neither predator nor prey.

For now, time would stand still.

Keyholes and Glidepaths

September 20, 2010

Light slips through glass, glass through air,
air through the pilot, the cabin, and the chair.

The crew becomes restless, restless with desire,
smoke passes through air, air passes through fire.

The captain looks up, one last moment of toil,
air over wings and wings over soil.

Rubber hits ground, and he reaches his goal,
iron slips through the air, like a key in a hole.

Brakes come into line like a phalanx of old,
“click!” goes the cylinder and releases its hold.

Hearts beat fast, “in competition” I’m told,
the safety of Earth lives deep in the fold.

And now that nothing remains to be bartered or sold,
just open the door, life belongs to the bold.

Book Dust

August 31, 2010

Broken Pages of BookOld books smell different.

Unique.

Within faded pages and yellowing folds comes dust.

I read the pages and become ill.  The dust produced from old ideas fills my lungs and produces a sickness.  My stomach digests, keeps or discards, feeds my brain, or rebels at the thought.

I finish the book.

It goes back on the shelf,  ready to infect the next person.

Isn’t it?

Sometimes, kids like to bash on pianos.  Pianos, like pots, provide simple mechanisms to create noise.  Can we presume that these children have not received any such training on the art of playing the pots and are merely bashing at it in a free-form expression of art that transcends these pictures of cows that you see here?

Train WindowI feel like a fly,

seeing in multiple dimensions.

No view is clear,

not a single one the truth.

But none is a lie,

either.

Windows provide happiness,

in the form of distraction,

by firey ablation,

form characterisation.

Outside In

July 16, 2010

Television gazes at the moon through the window

Don’t be fooled,
they know what you’re thinking.
No smarter than they,
no dumber, or equal.

The way they look,
the way that they stare,
they know what you’re thinking,
they are fully aware.

So remember this well,
remember it twice,
I’ll not say it again,
But I’ll try and be nice.

When you go for a walk,
when you walk and you talk,
when you talk and eat pork,
eat pork with a fork.

You should know that they know,
above and below,
and all that between,
is just as it seems.
